what is the best hostel for girls in mumbai, and why

The applications have been filled out, ID cards issued, farewell parties thrown, and Facebook “Studies at” statuses changed. The hunt for that one college where you’ll be spending the next couple of years going to insane parties, making the best of friends, bunking several classes, and occasionally cramming information a night before the exam, is over. And now begins, what we call, the hunt. Colleges have recommendations, alumni, rankings, and professors, giving you the opportunity to make an educated choice. But what do hostels have? How do you choose the place which you’ll be transforming into your second home? That’s where this blog comes in. Chances are, if you’re reading this, you’re on “the hunt” for hostels. And if you’re someone seeking a girls hostel in Mumbai, Tribe’s got your back! And do you also think good hostels in Mumbai are insanely difficult to find? Not anymore!

Distance from college

Your college location is of utmost priority. We’ve all seen the Dadar station memes and we don’t want to be a part of that mad rush, do we? So taking a train to college every day is a complete no no. Choose a student hostel in Mumbai that is a maximum of fifteen minutes away from college, considering that you’ll have to go there every day (sometimes just for attendance’s sake.) Located on South Pond Road, Tribe Hostel Vile Parle offers you just that, and is a stone’s throw away from top institutions like NMIMS, Mithibai, Pearl Academy, IICTN, Rachna Sansad, Whistling Woods International, and Actor Prepares.

 The property itself

Do you really want to return from a sultry college day and sit down on a creaky metal bed in a room with zero airflow (which is what most hostels in Mumbai offer)? Nope! At Tribe Vile Parle, we let the features do the talking! International standard rooms. Check. Attached modular bathrooms. Check. Private 32 inch TV in every room. Check. Privacy dividers in twin sharing rooms. Check. AC with generator backing. Check check check. Comfy plush rooms that house a beachy Mcediterranean vibe are more our type. We won’t cram you with five other people like other girls hostel in Mumbai as we only have single and double occupancy rooms ( Twin Sharing & Luxury Twin Sharing) For sharing rooms, there’s two of each, wardrobes, study tables, chairs, lamps, because sharing shouldn’t mean inconvenience.

Let’s talk amenities

Now that we have discussed rooms, what else does this student hostel in Mumbai have to offer? For starters, Tribe Vile Parle is a completely keyless and cashless campus. It houses a rooftop gym with matted flooring and world-class equipment that also overlooks the sea. Breakout areas and conference rooms allow you to chill with large groups without dirtying anybody’s room and the package-included laundry, housekeeping, and iron rooms are an ultimate BOON! Oh, and although you get three meals everyday (Breakfast, Snacks, and Dinner with non-vegetarian options), you also have access to a pantry room just in case you want to make some Maggi for yourself and get into the aamchi ‘student hostel in Mumbai’ vibe!

The question of whether it’s safe

All entries into the campus and the rooms are digital, meaning that anybody who doesn’t have biometric access cannot step foot into the buildings or into your rooms (only you and your roommate have access to rooms). Tribe Vile Parle is an all-girls hostel in Mumbai and the 24X7 International cuisine café Mamaliga and on-campus vending machines ensures that you never have to step out at wee hours to satisfy cravings for munchies! However, we believe in the power of choice. Any other girls hostel in Mumbai will exercise strict curfews, but Tribe doesn’t have a curfew at all! We believe that independent college students shouldn’t be shackled and forced to follow outdated rules! And just in case none of this impressed you, our good ol’ security team is one of the best amongst hostels in Mumbai!

 Location

Okay so college and hostel aren’t the only places you’re going to go to, right? Tribe Hostel Vile Parle’s prime Bombay location makes it a haven for people who like to live life in style! This girls hostel in Mumbai is surrounded by a myriad of grocery stores, medical stores, ATMs, top-notch restaurants, salons, and malls! The Tribe Hostel is also super close to one of the best hospitals of the country and is well connected to both the railway station and the airport!

 THE TRIBE VIBE!

Hostels in Mumbai are notorious for cramped spaces. But this student hostel in Mumbai houses serene cobbled paths that surround the campus, graffiti lined walls, a Greek themed open-air 24X7 café, dedicated work zones, a terrace with a magnificent seating space that captures a striking view of the blue Arabian sea, and an overall Mediterranean vibe. Every day is a vacation here at the Tribe Hostel! Regular community events that allow you to get to know your hostel-mates, festival celebrations, and the homely ambience is sure to make you fall in love with your college life!

5 Myths About Moving To New Cities As Students

Myths are something we hear all the time, especially from gossiping Indian aunties! It’s become a cultural norm to catch on to a myth that has been spread for ages and use this as a fact. Spread around by people who just love that little drama-masala in their lives!

A few of the most common myths we hear are when it comes to students who want to move to a new city. This is usually done because the most popular hubs for college education are located in big cities like Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, etc. This brings students from various cities and towns to move and live near their college.

Let’s look at 5 common myths about moving to new cities that students hear the most.

Loneliness

Loneliness is something that people hear that students encounter when they move to another city. One of the biggest and most obvious facts to dispute this is, aren’t other students moving to cities as well? You will definitely find the company when moving because there are so many other students coming from different walks of life that are in your exact situation! Making friends has never been so easy. Especially if you live in a girl’s hostel or boys hostel. Then it becomes even more simple.

Supplies

Parents sometimes have their children convinced that home food is superior and can only be gotten from their homes. Not true. When you live in places like hostels in Mumbai or hostels in Pune, you can always access food places with no issue! There are so many food services where you can get a set breakfast, lunch, and dinner delivered to you. Want to try your hand at cooking? Go for it! It isn’t that hard. With boys hostels and girls hostels, there are many supermarkets available around you where you can purchase your supplies from with no problem.

 Language

Language is something that people worry about. That if they move to another city, they won’t be able to speak the local language. Guess what? It’s not that big of an issue! In most places, you will find people speaking in Hindi and even English! Hostels in Mumbai and Hostels in Pune are popular because most people communicate in Hindi and English. No need to worry about anything!

School Friends

Another myth is that you will lose your old friends if you move. This proves to be completely wrong. You are just moving to a different place, you aren’t getting wiped off the face of the earth! Nowadays with social media and various apps like Zoom, you can stay connected to your dearest friends from anywhere!

Stay

Finding a place to stay is impossible! Now that’s one of the funniest myths around. Finding a place to stay for students has never been easier! Whether it’s hostels in Mumbai or hostels in Pune, there are many options for places to stay.

Choosing to stay in a hostel is a superior choice when it comes to picking where to stay. You have a safe environment with like-minded people. All of the myths mentioned above become void when you choose to live in either a boys hostel or girls hostel. One hostel that you should look at is Tribe Student Accommodation. They provide a safe and fun environment for college students!

Tribe Student Accommodation currently operates hostels for boys and hostels for girls in Pune (Viman Nagar | Tathawade) and Mumbai (Vile Parle). Bookings are open for the new term on www.tribestays.com.

5 Reasons Why Apartment Living is Basically Crazy For Students in 2020

Moving to a new town or city can be a nerve-wracking experience, especially if you’re a student, along with the stress of finding your way around, there are tasks like completing your assignments, making new friends, managing finances, choosing your accommodation, etc. which can be really daunting. After studying in a school for more than 12 years and living in the comfort and familiarity of home, going to college is an exciting (and sometimes scary) new adventure.

You’ve got to be thinking about various things like course registrations, what to pack, and most importantly: your housing arrangements! One of the primary factors to consider is the accommodation. Choosing the right place to reside can really help in making a smooth transition into the next stage of your life. If you are moving into a big city like Mumbai or Pune, that are brimming with top-notch IT companies and top-rated colleges, choosing the right living space can be a mind-boggling task. But, fret not, young freshman, for we are here to help you choose.

Even though cities like Pune and Mumbai are known for welcoming students and apprentices for years, the options for habitation have been limited, with students mostly opting for On-campus housing due to lack of options. Living on campus means lesser privacy, minimal personal space, and not having the opportunity to grow through adopting real-world responsibilities! Hence, it isn’t really preferable for the millennial mindset.

However, the market for student hostel in Pune and Mumbai is at an evolving stage and there are a number of factors that have led to growth in this segment in the recent past. In the last few years itself, besides conventional set-ups of rented accommodations like college dorms, paying guests and shared apartments, organized accommodations such as luxury hostels and student living have come into the picture, and they come with better services and facilities.

For young students, it boils down to two choices: Apartments or contemporary, present-day alternatives like luxury student hostels. There are certain aspects that you should consider before making a decision. Here is a glance at how both are different in terms of fun, life and convenience.

1)     It’s all about money:
Students are a young group who look for economical options for living. Most people renting out rooms are in it to make a little extra cash, not to run a full-fledged stay business with the infrastructure and expenses that drive up costs. Also, apartments and paying guests services claim to be affordable options, but when it comes to comparing the facilities, they really aren’t.
If you’re moving to a city like Mumbai, where opportunities are many, but the cost of living is high, hostels are the best option for you.
Moreover, hostels have a one-time payment feature, without any hidden charges, which is never the case with apartments. Additionally, there is no supplementary financial strain about electricity bills, laundry, internet, etc as it is constituted with your stay.

2)     Food:
Let’s be honest, the food at a college mess is always a mess and cooking is definitely not everyone’s cup of tea. Calling your mom and asking her what condiment to add when can be a nuisance if done daily.  So, if you don’t favour any of these options, apartment living is not for you. Student hostels have amenities such as 24*7 cafes and pantries, buffets for meals, so you need not worry when you are pulling an all-nighter and need some coffee and a snack!

3)     Hygiene:
If there is anything that 2020 has taught us, it is that hygiene should always be our top priority. We now know that any sort of disregard for hygiene and cleanliness practices, can lead to adverse consequences.
Like the old saying goes, “Cleanliness is next to Godliness.”
Being brought up in a country like India, you may have become accustomed to outsourcing our cleaning needs to maids and other cleaning services. But as this lockdown has taught us, there may come several times where these services may not be available and accessible. Living in apartments, it becomes your own responsibility to make sure your residence is as immaculate as possible, for which you may not have the knowledge or skill.
On that account, it is essential to live in a space where there is no compromise on hygiene. In the current scenario, student hostels are a prime option as they follow all government guidelines and follow through with all sanitisation procedures.

4)     Amenities:
The apartment rental route isn't for everyone. First off, you're generally on your own. While the apartment owner or manager might offer some basic assistance, don't expect services such as meals, cleaning services, that are always available in hostels. Also, there are various other amenities such as gyms, entertainment rooms, internet services, laundry services, etc that are most certainly available in a hostel living facility.

5)    Safety and Security:
It is always a good idea for young people that are living away from their parents, to live in a place that offers good security. Apartments owners/ landlords never offer any security guarantee. Also, there may be tons of restrictions when you are living in a residential space. Student hostels are built on the foundation of making your home a safe & secure place to live in. They are well equipped with state-of-the-art security systems and have an emergency action plan and guidelines to ensure maximum safety of the student.
Moreover, hostels facilitate separate access controlled floors/ sectors for male and female students, as they prioritise the student’s comfort and convenience.

Also, student hostels are normally very friendly and great for meeting new people, who are going through the same circumstances as you and also a lot of other like-minded people. They are often in great locations and are situated in areas close to major education institutes and at a prime location.

To sum up, student hostels may be the superior option for students as compared to apartments, especially in cities like Pune and Mumbai, in this day and age.
